Austin: "Mom, did you know Mitt Romney is going to be our new president?"

Me: "What?! Where on earth did you hear that?"

Austin: "On TV. And did you know that Baraka Obama-a failed at $6 million dollars??"

Me: "Ok. You are watching waaaaaaaaay too much tv!"

August 26

Just put my SECOND grader to bed before her first day of school tomorrow! Outfit picked out (right down to the headband) and the plan is laid out for the morning. Man, I am gonna miss that girl while she is in school. I am so proud of the little girl she has become - but I am not ready for her to grow up so fast. Just a few more weeks of summer, please?!

A favorite "Hannah-ism" that has stuck around for the long haul: "ding song on the door." Or in other words - ring the doorbell!

Today Grandma passed away. There is not much I can say that is good about this day. Except that I know how much my kids loved their grandma and how much she adored them. We will miss you, Grandma.

Took the kids to Wanda's today for some craft time, golf practice and a haircut :)

August 14

Today was just another day of playing at Mimi's and swimming at Anne's. They really miss their friends and home. But they are doing great here and making the most of a tough situation.

August 13

Went school shopping for my big 2nd grader today. Then we made a surprise stop by the salon and got her a bright blue extension. She loves it!

August 12

Had a much needed tea party with Hannah today. Just me and her. My girl needs some one on one time these days with me. I am glad we grabbed a little bit of it today.

August 11

Leaving grandma and grandpa's house tonight and we saw "our deer" laying down in the grass sleeping. I rolled down my window, drive by slowly and said "Night night deer." Austin followed up with "Don't let the bed bugs bite!"

August 10

Mike took the day off today while we are in Roanoke and he and I got away for lunch - just the two of us. It was nice to just be with him. I miss him and I miss the four of us and our routine - but I am glad we an be here to be with grandpa. He needs us and we need to be here.

August 9

Went swimming with the kids today in Anne's pool and had the best time just the three of us. I taught them how to play Marco polo and I am pretty sure I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. My kids make everything better.

Today Hannah wanted to use some of her tooth fairy money (and money Papa and Wanda gave her). She knew exactly what she wanted - a best friend pillow for her and Morgan.

Hannah and I spent the day celebrating Mimi's birthday with her. First we went to lunch with Great Mimi and Wanda and then we went to the mall so Mimi could pick out her bday present (a Pandora charm). We had a great girl's day out!

Going back in to Va today to spend more time with grandma and grandpa.

August 3

Walking through Wal-Mart today and Hannah told me she was using her neat-orizing skills on the cart. (In other words - she was organizing all the grocery items for me in the cart).

August 1

Today was a day filled with fun for the kids! First Hannah had tennis, then Kate came over and played all afternoon, then a babysitter came while daddy and I went to dinner. Needless to say, my babies are tired tonight!!

July 31

I was putting Austin to bed last night and Hannah peeked out from the bathroom, a mouth full of toothbrush and toothpaste, and yelled "Good night, buddy! I love you!" Austin replied "Love you too, Hainnah!"
